Psychometric Properties of the Persian Kessler Psychological Distress Scale Among Iranian Older Adults

Background and Purpose: We measured the psychometric properties i.e., validity, reliability, stability of Persian 10-item Kessler psychological distress scale (K10) among older adults in Iran. Materials Methods: recruited elderly (60+ years) subjects (20 per item questionnaire) from various sampling units general population Gorgan district, Golestan, After translation/back-translation process, questionnaire underwent forms validity including Cronbach alpha (overall, by items, group yes to an no item). The intra-class correlation coefficient was at a two-week interval, inter-rater agreement also determined. Both exploratory confirmatory factor analyses were conducted, along with receiver-operator characteristics vis-à-vis hospital anxiety depression scale. Results: In total, 190 (47.3% males, mean age: 70.3, 95% CI: 69.2-71.4) participated study. A total 35.8% had (PD) (i.e., score >20). 0.88 below 0.86. coefficients report (α=0.85) or (α=0.90) similar each other. for test-retest interval 0.90. Exploratory analysis showed one-factor structure underlying construct, cumulative variance 97.1%. Confirmatory high fit indices (0.91) low standardized residual 0.05.
